The garden in the clouds
relax – nature – adventure
A SLICE OF HEAVEN
In a short, stunning walk from the Little House there is a magical garden called Cambuè. This is Carol’s little slice of heaven. The walk takes about 40 minutes, at a relaxed pace.
Three main terraces tucked away on the edge of the woods dotted with olive and lemon trees, and dense with thick Mediterranean shrubs, strawberry fruit trees, lentisks, myrtles, heather, yellow broom, and rockroses. You can’t miss out on this jewel!
This unique terraced garden also offers the most striking view of Punto Mesca and the Mediterranean Sea. We’d like to call this our ‘eighth heaven’, or ‘garden in the clouds.’
A unique location
WITH SPECIAL TERRACES
The terraces, locally called “cian” or flat areas consist of small gardens, vineyards, staircases, cottages (like The Little House), tool sheds and cart paths interwoven as structures supported by stone walls. This is a great feat of environmental engineering! 4,200 cubic meters of walls – about two meters high – per hectare, for a total of 8,400,000 cubic meters; 3,163 linear meters of walls per hectare, for a total of 6,729 km of walls (said to be greater than the Earth’s radius).
The auspicious location of the Cinque Terre, sunny and sheltered by the winds of the north, has allowed the “ciàn” to be cultivated with vineyards and olive trees over the centuries, producing some of Italy’s highest quality oils and wines.
FOR SMALL GATHERINGS
Cambuè is the perfect, absolutely remote location for a small wedding celebration, symbolic blessing, engagement, vow renewal or anniversary ceremony. It’s the place to celebrate love. It’s also a wonderful spot for a gourmet picnic, a small concert, an afternoon lie in the sun––or any other form of joy and merriment. Cambuè is a must see and experience…an immersion in nature…remote and exquisitely beautiful. A dream come true! Davvero! (Truely!).
